Perfect, tasted great, just like my mum used to make.Had a problem with the filling as it seemed a bit too liquid so thickened it by cooking longer.Yum Yum Yum .Thank you for the Recipe.
This was a wonderful recipe. I did have to add 2 cups breadcrumbs to the filling. German gentleman I made it for said it needed more poppyseed, otherwise it was excellent. I have commercial mixer and used fresh yeast (1:3 ratio) so just threw everything into the mixer at once. Easy and great end product.

My mom is mexican and my dad is german so I always love trying to make either food from when I was young. My grand mother would make this. When she got older she just used the solo canned poppys so I bought the can of poppys and added the vanilla, honey a little water, lemon. It came out great. alot like grandmas she also used to take a little powder sugar and mix a little milk to make a icing and then drizzle it on top, not much because its already sweet. Thanx for the recipe. also good with almond paste.

I made this recipe, but cut the sugar in half for the filling, used 2/3 the honey called for, and almond extract instead of vanilla. In the dough, I substituted canola oil instead of butter, and used skim milk, plus I added some almond extract and lemon zest to the dough. I didn't have spiced rum, so didn't use any. Still, the recipe came out great, tasted wonderful and reminded me of my grandma's strudel.
