I've never made a German recipe before, so I found this to be different that what I am used to - especially with pureeing the soup at the end. My family and I preferred the texture and taste of the soup prior to the puree process. However, overall the soup tasted good - even my 17 month old liked it (and she's picky)! I think that I will probably change a few things in the recipe the next time that I make it - for example use a lean bacon (instead of fattty), use more carrots, and skip the puree process.
